Dating back to 1939 Thought for the Day is a 3 minute segment within the BBC Radio 4 Today Programme where UK faith leaders from the major religions present "a unique reflection from a faith perspective on topical issues and news events."

Current regular contributors include Chief Rabbi Lord Sacks, Indarjit Singh, Cannon Giles Fraser, Mona Siddiqui, Vishvapani, James Jones, Akhandadhi Das and novelists Anne Atkins and Rhidian Brooke.

The themes discussed are universal issues that affect everyone either personally, as part of society or within humanity at some point in ones life. Ultimately each thoughts emphasis is on how we can better live a positive life and to recognize and change elements which obstruct this - both individually and collectively - which is the central message and golden rule of every major religion and spiritual movement.
